New small cute web server
We're pleased to mention that wolfpackgaming.com is one of the first web sites out on the Internet being hosted on a Mac mini!

End of an era as bungie.net signs off
The Myth bungie.net server gave about a hundred or so users one final evening of gaming during the overnight before being shut off by the powers that be shortly after 1 a.m. Pacific time. Shy of a dozen current and former Wolfpack could be found among those who came to play, wax nostalgic, look for acquaintances, and feel the virtual spaces for one last time. The penultimate blue bar message of "The time has come" was followed by "Good night friends" before the server was disconnected. A salute to the gaming server that truly bound an online community with its game.

Say a bloody goodbye to bungie.net
On the eve of this coming Sunday, the tenth day of the second month in the year of our lord 2002 there will be a last bungie.net gathering from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. Eastern time. All who are serving in the order of the Wolfpack are commanded to attend (but we especially need fast hosts). We will meet at the place known in lore only as the Wolfpack Hotline. From there, after much merriment, groups of us will venture into the forest bungie.net in search of adventure and to kill our enemies. (Oh, and to have fun).

Farewell to Myth II bungie.net
Today it was announced on bungie.net that the Myth II Game Server is to go open-source. However, this also means Myth II bungie.net is shutting down for good. Myth II's last day online with be Friday, February 15. I plan on paying my respects to the server that provided me with endless co-op sessions, tournament matches, ranked games, unranked games, and the occasional WWII game or two. I will be in New York at the time, but I will still make it on. It would be really great if WP could be there as well for one last round of the Late Night Wolfpack on the server that started it all.

A day to remember
The World Trade Center and the Pentagon were bombed today in the worst terrorist incident in American history. A minimum of 10,000 people are believed to be dead, more still are injured. Wolfpack wishes to offer its prayers and sympathies for those that have died, those that may yet die from injuries, and those that have lost loved ones and friends in the disaster. May justice be dealt swiftly to those that have committed this unspeakable, atrocious act of terror, and may the innocent dead sleep in peace.

WP agrees 'It's the Cheese' in MWC DE1
SilverBrin reports: "Wolfpack is currently digesting a win over Mean Monkey Cheeze today in DE1. The unofficial match score after five games was 114-40. The games went smoothly with the exception of the first Drowned Empire game which got a bit hairy, but we pulled through. The final game, captained by CyberBob, was a Dead of Winter no chat brawl where Wolfpack was reduced to reading the overhead map for an occasional order. That game was tense and stank with the ever spoiling cheese. When the game ended it was 48% to 0% remaining, all without a single growl, howl, snarl, or bark from the Wolfpack. In the end the Cheese was cut and the wolves were mute."

Wolfpack falls to E.I. in MWC QR
SilverBrin reports: "In what was to be one of Wolfpack's hardest match of the tournament, Wolfpack took its first loss today in an exciting and close match 39-26 (unofficial) against Evil Incorporated. Pool leader E.I., which seemed invincible winning all its meetings up to this match by the maximum amount of points possible, had met its match. E.I. won Desert Stampede by barely squeaking in three hidden pigs at the end. The next game Wolfpack stepped it up a notch and dealt a stellar performance, winning Trow Territories with a bit more ease. The last game, however, was not as close, and Wolfpack lost due to poor execution against a more experienced team. Indeed in this spotlight match of the week, Good vs Evil slugged it out in dramatic fashion. Though Wolfpack was bested, we stand proud knowing we performed our best and as E.I. put it ... giving "quite a scare." Many expected a great match, but few could predict how close it would really be. We wish E.I. luck in the rest of MWC."

Wolfpack defeats Orgasmic Hamsters
SilverBrin supplies another timely dispatch from the MWC 2001 Qualifying Round battlefield:

Today Wolfpack defeated the Orgasmic Hamsters 3-0. Though WP let the first Stampede Trow game become closer than it liked, the team pulled off a win. The remaining two games went smoother. WP used its "crap strats" successfuly and awaits the "real" match against Evil Incorporated tomorrow. In the end, the Orgasmic Hamsters were indeed climaxing. When play ended and they asked us how it went, we admitted that we faked it the whole time. =P

Machine forfeits to Wolfpack in MWC QR
SilverBrin sends another dispatch from the field: "In our hardest fought game yet Wolfpack beats Machine in a flawless victory. Ok, so they didn't show up ... but the greatest victories are the ones that are never fought ... or is that the best battles? Whatever. We win again cause our fear malfunctioned teh machine! I actually was at this one and I can honestly say that as those 15 minutes ticked away in the lobby, I have never been more proud of a team ... cause I was watching the Berlin Thunder beat the Argentina Admirals in the European football league on TV as we waited for Machine to show up."

WPLNC pages return to the web
Achilles ///// HD writes: "I've just finished watching Magellan and Hell's epic run through 'Relic', LNC. However, contrary to your comments on this site, 'Relic' was completed by Mag and Hell using veterans. Specifically; 2 dwarfs, 6 bowmen, 7 Heron Guards and the Deceiver. Nice film though."

We're not sure where the film and its accompanying writeup contradict, but we'll check it out. For reference, the WPLNC campaign had four criteria: played by Wolfpack, played by more than one player, played on Legendary, and won with no casualties. A few of the films were done with veterans. A number of them were redone LNC without veterans (including Relic) to satisfy the rules of another co-op challenge, bungie.org's Myth Master Challenge.
